What are DA Checkers?

Domain authority (DA) checkers are important for search engine optimization (SEO), as they allow you to predict the ability of a website or domain to rank highly in search engine results.

But what is domain authority, exactly? It’s a metric that uses a 0 to 100 scale, with a higher score meaning that a page is more likely to show up first in a relevant Google search. So, why are DA checkers crucial to your business, and how can you improve your domain authority?

How DA checkers work

DA checkers calculate your domain authority on a scale from 1 to 100. The higher your score, the better your domain authority is. Using a DA checker allows you to see how well you’re likely to rank in search engine rankings by combining link metrics, root domains, number of links, and more into a single score.

There’s no magic number that you should aim for. And in a niche market, you can often compete with other businesses even if you have a lower DA score. On the other hand, if you’re competing with big brands and competitive keywords, a score of around 50 might not be enough to succeed.

Determine the DA scores of your organic search competitors by adding them to a bulk DA checker. Most bulk DA checkers enable you to search up to 10 results at a time and find an average DA for your search. Use the average DA scores of your competitors to see how you’re doing in comparison.

Improving your domain authority

As previously mentioned, domain authority is calculated using multiple link-based metrics by Moz, the original developer of the DA system. To improve your domain authority, focus on link building by incorporating relevant backlinks from high authority domains. Link building is an important element in SEO because it drives search traffic from Google.

According to SEO research, the number of inbound links to a site or page has a high correlation with Google rankings. Improving your DA score requires placing links mindfully throughout your website. Since search engines assign different values to different types of links, focus on using text links within content, rather than in the sidebar or footbar.

Linking strategically

It’s important to pay attention to the individual elements of a link and how search engines assess each element. Although it’s difficult to determine the exact algorithm used by search engines, SEO research draws assumptions that remain accurate when tested. For instance, links higher up in the HTML code of a page have a higher ability to affect your DA score than those that are placed lower down. External links and internal links also carry different authority, with external links being more influential.

To further increase your DA score, use anchor text throughout your website. Dozens of links that point to a page with highly competitive keywords will increase the probability of that page ranking well. Additionally, you should choose the sites you link to carefully and be selective with the sites that are linking back to you.

Search engines treat socially shared links differently than other types of links. However, socially shared links still carry weight in search engine results. Although there is debate among SEO professionals regarding how search engines treat socially shared links, it’s still important to utilize the effectiveness of social channels. To maximize your search engine rankings, post and share relevant links from high authority sources to each of your social profiles.

Determining where your DA score falls in comparison to your competitors will give you an idea of how you’re ranking in search engine results. Practicing link building is paramount to improving your DA score. Although link building is a challenging element of SEO to master, it’s critical to the success of your business.
