How Important is Magnet in Our Daily Life

Magnets are incredibly important, particularly due to the relationship between electricity and magnetism. They are widely used in a variety range of devices including simple toys, computers, refrigerator, MRI machines, transportation, business equipment, and medical equipment. Magnets are usually manufactured in different sizes and shapes to meet the demands of different areas. The most commonly used magnets shape is round magnets, cylinder magnets, square magnets, and arc magnets.

Uses of magnets in our daily life

Magnets are used in computers and Electronics. Every time when we using computer or U disk to store photos, music, text documents or videos, we are actually using magnets. Hard disk drives store the data contribute to the billions of magnets that cover them. The small speaker found in computers, radios, and televisions also have magnets, and a speaker magnet is inside of the speaker.

Magnets are used in medical equipment. Magnets are widely used in health and medical equipment such as MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging machines). MRI uses a magnetic field and radio waves to generate detail image of bones, organs and other tissue of our body. A magnet is the most essential part of the MRI system. Thanks to the invention of MRI, doctors could check people’s health accurately and without harm.

Magnets are used in our home. You may not notice that magnets are everywhere in our home. Such as refrigerator; jewelry; fish tank; flower pot; U disk; strong magnet hook, door, and other items are all used magnets. One of the particular use of magnets is for decoration, this kind of magnets are generally round magnet, which could be used to decorate red wine box, diamond box, wallet, handbag, etc. The apply of magnets in gift box design is much more convenient to use and environmentally friendly.

Magnets are used in transportation. The most public transportation that uses magnet is the magnetically levitated train, also known as a mag-lev train, use magnets under the cars to float above the magnetic tracks because the magnets are repelling each other. These types of trains use superconducting magnets and can travel up to 300 miles per hour.

Maglev trains are using powerful electromagnets to develop the speed. Maglev is short for magnetic levitation, which means that these trains will float over a guideway using the basic principles of magnets to replace the old steel wheel and track trains. If you’ve ever played with magnets, you know that opposite poles attract and like poles repel each other. This is the basic principle behind electromagnetic propulsion. Electromagnets are similar to other magnets in that they attract metal objects, but the magnetic pull is temporary. Also, the use of magnet motor is more efficient than traditional induction motors or motors with the field winding for specific high-efficiency applications such as electric vehicles.

Magnets are used in Electric Power. Magnets are particularly crucial to the industrial world. For example, the magnet in electric generators could turn mechanical energy into electricity, while some motors use magnets to convert electricity back into mechanical work.

Magnets are used in education. Magnet toys like magnetic rods, magnetic balls, and magnetic cubes are great toys to cultivate children’s imagination, inspiring kids’ passion for science. Also, magnetic toys are excellent pressure releasing toys for adults.

Ideas about magnet application

As the magnetic technology is predicted to be the future trend, maybe it could be used more creatively and effectively.

The magnet could be used in designing. The button in our clothes may be replaced by the magnet. In case not put into the wrong button, the micro-magnetic force and snap conveniently by making the best use of the magnet.

The magnet could be used in home improvement. By using magnetic force and gravity, we could create an automatic watering flower pot. Or using a magnet hook to attract towel, every time after you use the towel, just throw it on the wall and the towel will be sucked into the wall directly.
