2018 may be coming to a close, but it’s only the beginning of the latest tech revolution. Here are five exciting technology predictions to watch.

Wondering what’s in store in the next few months? Read on for five technology predictions about the road ahead.

1. Foldable Technology Becomes The Hot New Tech Trend

It’s fascinating to watch the evolution of the cell phone. For years, the market was obsessed with making them as small and sleek as possible. Then, we had a love affair with bigger, bulkier phones such as the Samsung S9.

But what if you could literally fold up your cell phone at will?

As strange as it may sound, that’s exactly what Samsung is working on. The tech giant just announced its latest smartphone innovation is set to hit in a matter of months.

Dubbed the Infinity Flex Display, this new type of tech offers users bigger screens without the bulk of a tablet.

2. Augmented Reality Makes it Mainstream

The virtual reality boom of 2016 left a lot of consumers disappointed. It seemed like the release of the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive would take VR to the mainstream.

While both performed admirably, VR isn’t quite the hit we hoped for.

But while VR has a ways to go, augment reality (AR) is starting to look increasingly promising. This year’s release of the Magic Leap One impressed tech experts in some unexpected ways.

Though the price point is still too high for most consumers, with Leap units retailing for $2,300, the tech is shaping up to be quite promising.

3. Faster Mobile Connections go Wide

It wouldn’t be a list of tech predictions without a mention of the latest iPhone.

Though the XS and XR hit store shelves just a few months ago, reports indicate that Apple’s next phone will be even faster.

Rumor has it that Apple is aiming at launching its first 5G-capable phone within the next year or so.

This news, paired with earlier reports that the U.S. government is considering rolling out 5G connections nationwide, bode well for consumers who are looking for a faster connection.

4. Apple’s New Mac Pro Changes The Game

It’s been quite a while since Apple released a new Mac Pro. But experts believe that a 2019 release is imminent.

What’s more, it’ll come with quite a few changes.

The biggest change is the addition of modular components, meaning that for the first time possible, consumers can upgrade their Mac instead of having to buy a whole new computer.

5. 4K Becomes The Norm

It’s hard to believe that it’s been two decades since HD technology hit the market. And while it took HD TVs quite a while to catch on, 4K is quickly usurping its older brother.

4K TVs are coming down in price by the day. In fact, those looking to upgrade can even pick up a brand new 4K TV for about $200.

As prices continue to drop and streaming services like Netflix expand their 4K offerings, expect to see more people enjoying a higher quality picture.
