The Future is Now [Infographic]

It’s 2018, and the future is different than what society imagined life would be like in the 1950s and 60s. We don’t quite have flying cars, but we do have smart ones. Virtual Reality is growing, but we haven’t inserted our minds into machines.

Overall we have a lot of more engaging technology that has surpassed some of our expectations. However, there are some growing areas that many haven’t even heard of. For those who are interested just how fantastic future technology is becoming, keep reading.

1. Self-Driving Cars Exist

If you haven’t been paying attention to the news lately, both Google and Uber are heavily pushing into self-driving cars. The technology allows for users to become a passenger in any vehicle, and it’s expected to add $7 trillion to the economy once it matures.

2. Heads-Up Displays (HUDs)

Imagine getting key information relevant to your current activity just at a glance. That’s the power of heads-up displays on vehicles, glasses and home windows.

3. Advanced AI Chatbots

We’ve all had at least one bad customer support experience, to say the least. Artificial intelligence engineers are working to create AI chatbots that can handle our technical and customer service inquiries better than actual humans. Facebook, Google, and Microsoft are key investors in advancing this tech, and it’s expected to reach $1.23 billion by 2025.

4. Blockchain Technologies

Blockchain is one of the most explosive technologies on the planet. It uses a network of computers to keep a digital ledger of transactions and is a highly sophisticated and encrypted system. Over the past year, venture capitalists have poured more than a billion dollars into blockchain tech companies. By 2024 the industry is expected to reach a staggering 20 billion.
