55 Must-Know SEO Tricks for Business Websites [Infographic]

Traffic and visitors are what keep a website alive. Without visitors, a website is nothing more than an empty page. Brush up on your SEO knowledge to get your website thriving.

SEO Is the Future

Search Engine Optimization is an effective marketing channel according to 61% of CMOs, proving SEO isn’t limited for just big brands.

In fact, 80% of consumers research a company online before dealing with small businesses and for 89% of consumers, a purchase begins with a search.

Win with Google

Google is the biggest search engine with 81% of global desktop search traffic coming from them (beating Bing, Baidu and Yahoo), which makes them your best bet for increasing traffic and generating leads.

Google users are also increasing. Every month, Google has at least 2.2 billion users and over 100 billion searches.

The Google Analytics is a web analytics service that you should use. Benefiting brands such as Airbnb, National Geographic, Domino’s with increased ROI, engagement, and revenue, Analytics has around 30 million users.

Google updates their search algorithm frequently. In fact, 500-600 minor updates occur every year with 9 major updates in the last two years. These updates may seem insignificant but the slightest change can make a huge difference.

For example, the latest Panda update focused on low-quality content sites affected up to 12% of search results by removing sites with a high advertising to content ratio from Google’s top searches .

Fine-Tune Your Website’s SEO

A few things you can start doing in order to improve your website and increase traffic are: improving pagespeed, optimizing your site for mobile use, and creating longer content.

Pagespeed is something you should take note of. When visitors come across a page that takes longer than 2 seconds to load, they leave immediately. Google has announced it as a ranking factor for SERP.

Make sure your website is optimized for mobile use. The amount of mobile users are increasing and it is predicted to reach 5 billion in 2019.

About 94% of mobile/search traffic comes from Google alone which means mobile users prefer Google over other search engines. If a user visits a site that isn’t optimized for mobile use, 46% will leave the site.

Don’t be intimidated by long content. Putting in some extra effort into content creation will benefit you in the long run. Content with over 1,000 words tend to appear on the first page result of Google searches and receive more shares.

Although content is considered as the most difficult by 48% of marketers, it is one of the most effective tactics for online businesses.
