How to engage with your Facebook Fans?

If you cannot recall when the last time you got a like in your face book page was, then this post is for you.

This post is written with an aim to help you improve the engagement of your page and irrespective of the type and size of business, the tips below will be equally fruitful to all types of businesses

1. Posting at the right time

Yes time matters a lot! It is because you cannot expect to get engagement from your posts by posting at a time when majority of your audience is offline.

However there is a big confusion regarding that ‘magical’ hour of the day that will fetch you maximum engagements.  If you check this report of 20 studies that suggests the ‘best’ time to post in social media, you can see that different agencies suggest different timings.

The best technique initially would be to try posting at different hours of the day and check the response from the insights section of your page. Finally the time and day that best suits your audience is the optimum for you.  Thus make it a practice of thoroughly recheck  each word you post in your next article.

2. Ask questions, put surveys

Once after getting a decent number of likes for your page, you can start to implement this strategy. People usually share their personal opinion and views regarding a topic when they are asked or encouraged to do so?

But do not ask too frequently and refrain from controversial and irrelevant topics that may reduce your credibility.

3. Respond to likes, shares and comments

Whenever anyone likes, post comments or shares your post, take it as an opportunity to express gratitude by thanking them for the kind words as well as replying to their queries. Interact with your audience in the same way you would interact with a real human.

4. Try posting different formats

Images are one of the best content formats to engage people. Every week post an image or two, preferably quotes in your page related to your niche. If the presentation and content is good, people will love to share.

Similarly short videos too are a great way to engage people these days. Based on your niche, create animated videos or shoot a motivational short story or a tutorial video.

Similarly gifs, infographics and audio content are also some of the preferable formats of content.

5. Ask people to tag

This strategy has worked quite well for popular facebook pages where they upload a photo and ask people to tag their friends, girlfriend/boyfriend, husband and so on.

This is a fun thing to do and users too are eager to comment, mention their friends and share the post.

6. Invite influential personalities

Share a quote or an advice of influencers in your niche and tag them in the update. If they share your update in their wall this will reach their audience too which will bring good engagement and some genuine likes in your page.

7. Boost some chosen posts

If you haven’t utilized the sponsored ad feature of facebook till now, you should give it a try. Every month choose a few of your posts and boost it to reach a wider range of audience.

The good thing about this feature is that you can choose any amount depending on your budget and the amount will surely not dig any hole in your pocket.  The flexibility to choose the audience demograph, gender, age is also beneficial to target relevant audience.

8. Celebrate occasions and festivals

During important occasions and festivals do not forget to add greeting images and wishes with captions in your page. This will not only bring you closer to your audience, but also improve the engagements as people love to respond to these e- greetings.

9. Upload miscellaneous stuffs

Once in a while share some testimonies, behind the screen stories and random stuffs to bring a change in the trend of your posts. The idea here is to post a variety of contents so that your page does not become monotonous.

10. A very relevant and enticing cover picture

Though listed in the 10th position this is not least important. Choose a high definition picture that clearly tells a visitor what this page is all about. Don’t let them guess if you don’t want to lose.

The about section too should be straight and crisp. It should tell clearly what you actually offer without confusing the guest

In a nutshell

Having a highly engaged facebook page is very crucial to give your business a boost.  Never take your followers for granted. Communicate as a human and try to respond to all their queries and solve their problems as efficiently as you can. Try experimenting by posting at different hours of the day and by posting in various formats.

The above techniques if done properly and sincerely should help in improving the engagement of your page and spread your content far and wide.
