How to Use Technology Effectively in a Classroom?

Technology has had several positive impacts on education. It has made the whole learning process more engaging and effective. Also, with technology-integrated classrooms, students can learn in an interactive way which can help them to visualize and retain the concepts for longer.

It is important to understand that a technology integrated learning does not necessarily mean that the classroom will be teacher-centric (for example, tools that only teachers have access to); rather, technology integration should be seamless in which both teachers and students interact with the tools and students develop a deeper understanding of concepts.

So, using effective ways to use technology in a classroom is very crucial. At first, it is important to embrace technology and understand how it can revolutionize the learning process and then figure out ways to integrate it into a classroom. Some of the ways are given below that can help to achieve a seamless integration of technology in classrooms.

1. Gamification

With gamification, topics, especially in maths, can be learned in a better and engaging way. For example, students can learn polynomials in an effective way if they play games that help them to draw, identify and classify the polynomial figures. By incorporate simulations and gaming activities in classrooms, students also get engaged and develop cognitive skills.

2. Blended Learning

The term blended learning refers to an education program where both digital and traditional learning methodologies are incorporated. With blended learning, learning can be more personalized and flexible. This can also help to facilitate individual and collaborative learning experiences of the students. Using blended learning, the proper feedback can be obtained and teachers can identify the problem areas of individual students easily.

3. BYOD

BYOD stands for “Bring Your Own Device”. With this, learning becomes student driven and their participation increases. If an institution is unable to provide digital devices to the individual students then, BYOD can be really helpful to make learning technology-driven and personalized. BYOD can also help to increase collaboration and communication.

4. Video lectures, Projects and Presentations

It is important to give students projects and increase their participation and creativity. Also, technology can help to build visualized content that students understand easily. Apart from video lessons, it is important to give presentations on the taught topics and let students participate in various project activities to get completely acquainted with the topics.

With these methods, technology-integrated classrooms can be more efficient and prove extremely beneficial to the learning experience of the students. With technology, students can even learn the complicated topics like integration, coordinate geometry, trigonometry, etc. easily and in an engaging way.
