Why is RCS Messaging Better Than SMS?

Technology has evolved by leaps and bounds in the modern age. Amidst all this, text messages, or SMS as we call them, have not been able to keep up. Honestly, the era of SMS is slowly dying down – there is no end-to-end encryption, no ability to create groups, you cannot add reactions to someone’s text, and much more. The list is endless, but can you really blame it? After all, there has been immense technological advancement of late.

On the back of that, we would love to introduce you to the world of RCS messaging, and just how good it is. Let us take a look.

What Exactly is RCS? What is the Full Form?

The full form of RCS is Rich Communication Services, and as obvious as it may sound, it is exactly what it sounds like. RCS is the big brother of SMS, with all the technical upgrades and security features, which will eventually help to throw SMS out of the picture.

RCS makes texting easier and simpler than it has ever been before – you can share high-resolution photos, and multiple documents, see that your text message has been read, and even make video calls. RCS is the update to text messaging that is loved by the entire mobile industry, and everyone is getting on board this texting revolution.

How Far Has the RCS Implementation Come About?

RCS implementation has now come a long way. In fact, we are living in the age of RCS already. RCS is available readily, and the internet that it uses to send the texts is charged on your mobile data plan. In addition, if you have recently bought a new phone or opened the Messages app on your Android device for the first time, you will see a choice that asks you whether you want to send enhanced text messages with chat features – that is RCS.

However, the only problem that RCS is now facing is from Apple and its slew of iPhones. The primary reason here is that Apple does not want the iMessage feature (which already has some of the RCS capabilities) to go away. As a result, there is a strong and steady disagreement in the mobile industry between RCS users (almost everyone) and Apple.

This dispute even led to the infamous and direct ad campaigns that Google ran for a while, asking Apple to switch to RCS too. However, Apple is yet to implement it into their iPhones, and all signs point to the fact that it is not coming to your iOS device anytime soon.

How to Get RCS Messaging on My Phone?

If you are looking to get RCS messaging on your phone, then just make sure that you have an Android device with the latest updates. You can go into your Messaging app’s settings and enable RCS from there. Do remember that RCS makes use of the internet while sending messages, so you will need a good internet connection for it. And if you are looking for a better telecom service provider, make use of the Airtel online SIM delivery feature and port to Airtel.

Getting too many spam calls and tired of the continuous reverse phone lookups in India that you do? Simply enable spam detection features on your smartphone, or switch to Airtel and block spam calls with a few easy steps.
