What’s Next For The Renewables Industry

The current climate crisis is encouraging us all to change our living habits. We all need to look at what we can do to live a more sustainable life.

This change incorporates small changes, each of us can make in our homes, to global changes that companies can make to create a more eco-friendly way of working.

So what’s next for the renewables industry?

Solar Power

The cost of solar panel installation has been steadily decreasing over the past few years and the price is showing no sign of letting up any time soon.

Solar panels are an excellent environmentally-friendly way of powering a building, a household, an off-grid getaway, or just about anything else you can imagine.

The energy comes entirely from sunlight which will then create electrical charges that will power your home.

They are extremely popular in the UK and will likely only grow in popularity as people strive to live more sustainable lives.

Geothermal Energy

Geothermal energy is on the rise and will surely continue to become more popular over the coming years. This works by gaining energy from the sub-surface of the earth. The energy is drawn from rocks deep down in the earth.

There is a cycle of water and steam which goes through a generator to produce energy.

Heat Pumps

Heat pumps are an excellent eco-friendly way of heating your home. The pumps extract heat from several sources such as the ground, the air, bodies of water, and more.

This form of renewable heating works best in very well-insulated properties, making them ideal for new builds.

They are likely to decline in cost over the next few years, especially in the UK due to their move to stop installing gas boilers in new homes.

However, companies such as Star Renewables with their Neat Pumps are already selling heat pumps at very affordable rates.

Wind Farms

Wind farms have been around for years, however, they are likely to become more prominent forms of renewable energy due to their predicted increased capacity in the next few years.

Wind farms work by using wind which spins the blades of the individual turbines which are connected to a generator which in turn creates electricity.

Hydroelectric Energy

Hydroelectric energy is perhaps not as well known as wind-powered energy, however, it will definitely be on the rise over the next few years.

Hydroelectric energy comes from the rain which is converted via a generator into electricity.

Green Hydrogen

Green hydrogen is an up-and-coming renewable energy source. It is renewably produced hydrogen and it could have the potential to make gas heating and many industrial processes much more environmentally friendly.

The rise in renewable energy shows no signs of slowing down. It will likely continue to rise in popularity over the coming years due to the global climate crisis.

The cost of renewable energy solutions is also steadily decreasing, making it a feasible option for millions of people every year. Where we can, we all need to commit to making small changes that will positively impact our planet in the long run.

As science progresses, who knows what other forms of renewable energy may crop up in the coming years?
