5 Vacuum Cleaner Features you Will See More of in 2021

Vacuum cleaners are one of the most fascinating household appliances on the market. Their beauty is in their simplicity, and yet also the way in which the technology used in them is constantly advancing.

We’ve seen numerous features come and go over the years, but which ones are we likely to see more of in 2021? The good news is that they are all aspects that make vacuuming an easier and more enjoyable experience. Here’s to a year where cleaning doesn’t feel like a chore.

#1 Anti-Hair Wrap Technology

This was recently released by Shark, and it works by eliminating that pesky issue where hair gets tangled around the brush bar and clogs up the floorhead. Instead, you get a soft silicone guard that will prevent the hair from getting tangled – directing it straight to the bin.

It saves a lot of time spent on maintenance, as well as the frustration that comes with it. It makes cleaning the carpets a lot easier while also ensuring the longevity of your machine.

#2 Powerful Cordless Tech

Cordless vacuum cleaners weren’t always particularly prominent. They were convenient but lacked the power offered by a traditional corded model. However, recent cordless vacuums have proved to be far superior to their predecessors, with some (such as the Dyson V11) being able to clean carpets and hard floors just as well as corded models.

#3 IoT Integration

We are seeing this a lot in robotic vacuum cleaners, and it’s not just a fun addition but also an immensely useful one. IoT integration refers to seemingly simple tasks such as self-docking, cleaning schedules, charging, and heading off on their own cleaning routes.

It will be exciting to see how much further this aspect goes as robot vacuum technology continues to advance. We might even see something similar in a standard vacuum, which would be very interesting.

#4 Interactive Display

The Dyson V11 Absolute is the best example of this recent advancement, and it was incredible to witness. The LCD display has the standard features – battery life and cleaning mode – but also something else that hadn’t yet been seen on a vacuum cleaner.

If there is a loss of suction, the filter needs cleaning, or pet hair removed, the bin emptying, or there is a general issue with the machine, it plays a video that shows you how to fix it. This video is detailed with steps to resolve it and several different methods. It’s a fantastic addition, and one that certainly makes maintenance easier.

#5 Wet/Dry Cleaning

This is an underrated feature, but one that is even starting to be seen in robotic vacuum cleaners. It can refer to the ability to clean both wet and dry messes on the floor, but also the ability to wash the floors as it cleans. This is quite an innovative addition, and one that we are certain you will see more of in 2021 as cleaning becomes more convenient.

To Conclude

There are loads of vacuum cleaner features that you should be getting excited about as they work to make the housework easier and more exciting. The advancement of technology in appliances as simple as a vacuum cleaner is incredible, and certainly something to be celebrated. Which vacuum tech are you most excited to try out?
