How to Monetize Your Blog

Blogging has become one of the most popular pastimes among people, whether you are using it to endorse your business, or writing regularly for fun. No matter why you are doing it, it can sometimes feel as though you are putting in a lot of work for nothing if you don’t see any income from it. When this happens, lots of people look to monetizing their blog, so that they can make money to compensate for their efforts. Yet, finding the best way to do this can be a struggle, and is sometimes not worth the effort unless you find a great solution. Luckily, there are some effective methods you can implement to monetize your blog successfully.

Use pay per click advertisements

Pay per click advertising is one of the most popular ways to monetize a blog. It works by having other companies advertise their products or services on your blog pages. When people click through to these advertisements, you get a certain amount of money each time. Some people elect to have highly relevant advertisements on their pages, while others don’t. In any case, such advertisements can come with security risks if you don’t use clean code. Having clean code for your PPC landing page removes this risk, and will help you pull in a hefty sum of money if you have a large blog following.

Include affiliate links

In recent years, affiliate marketing has been the go-to for many bloggers. It is a subtler way of bringing in money from your blog, as you can embed these links within blog text. When readers click on these links, they get taken to a product or service. If they invest in it, then you get a small cut of the sales from that product. Lots of bloggers have taken to using disclaimers at the bottom of their blogs, advising their readers of the affiliate links. This allows them to maintain honesty, but it rarely dampens the effectiveness of the links.

Sell your own product

Most bloggers will tailor their blog to fit a certain niche. This gives you more scope to create your own product to sell on your website. For example, if you are a beauty blogger, you could create your own line of skincare, which you can promote on your own blog, and see sales form. This type of monetization will be particularly effective if you have a large social media following, as you will be able to reach out to all your followers with products that will appeal and interest them and potentially see a large amount of revenue come from this. This can then lead them to your blog, and thus you will be making money from your content, with minimal effort on your part.

Write guides for visitors

You may remember a time when you visited a blog, only to see an advertisement for a guide, or an e-book, across the website. This is an option many bloggers take when they feel they have some incredible skills to share with their readers. It mostly works when bloggers have a success story to sell, as many people will be intrigued by their lifestyle, and want to know how they got there. Hosting webinars and selling guides is a great way to make money from your blog, without putting in too much extra time.

Collectively there are various ways you can monetize your blog. By understanding your niche, posting relevant content and using PPC advertisements and affiliate links, you can see profits from your blog boost sooner than you think. A successful blog requires dedication, effort, and implementation, and, along with using the above tips, you get started in running your blog with the best possible results.
