Usually, people that are into vaping either prioritize dense fog of vapor (clouds) or the wide variety of different flavors. Not all the taste buds pleasing E-juice is ideal for cloud making, and vice-versa. Me personally, I enjoy a mix of the two. I don’t mind having less dense clouds if the E-juice tastes very good. This article is for those people. The vapers who enjoy an enhanced flavor experience for their vape juice. Or even to those who prefer cloud making, or even casual smokers and beginners, wanting to learn how to improve the flavor experience in vaping. Let’s find out how!

1. Tweak the Settings – Wattage and Temperature

This is one of the very first things you can try to do. Contrary to popular belief, adjusting the wattage and temperature may strongly affect the flavor. Why? Well, different elements of the juice vaporize at different temperatures, thus why you can play with the flavor.

Of course, this is only possible if you have a variable wattage device, one that allows you to adjust the setting within a wide range of temperature. Most basic vaping cigars only have one or two temperatures. Most modern systems have adjustable temperature and wattage.

2. Propylene Glycol vs. Vegetable Glycerin

As you probably are aware of, the e-cigarette combines odorless liquids full of flavor and nicotine to create the E-juice. You might know however, is that these odorless liquids that give the vaping its flavor, can either be PG or VG. What does it mean? Allow me to explain:

  • Propylene Glycol – is a synthetic organic compound present in a wide variety of common products such as: soft drinks (e.g. Iced Teas), icings, artificial sweetener, ice cream, some boxed cakes, even in antifreeze! PG is regarded as being safe to ingest orally and thus present in the food and e-juices market.
  • Vegetable Glycerin – liquid produced from palm oil, soy, and coconut oil, mostly. VG is used in a variety of markets such as: cosmetics, food, and herbal and botanical tinctures. Vegetable Glycerin used in food applications is USP grade or over 99% pure.

But what’s better to enhance flavor? PG or VG?

The flavors you buy have a PG/VG ratio, some have higher VG while others have higher PG, while some have 50-50. High VG juices although great for blowing big dense clouds of smoke, are not very strong in flavor. On the other hand, high PG juices are very harsh on the throat and are not pleasant to smoke. Therefore, what you want is a mix of both.

Well all have different taste buds, and different people have different experiences with the same e-juice. That’s why the best thing to do is to start at a 50-50 PG/VG ratio and move upwards the PG rate. For very strong flavor most people prefer PG 80-20, however it can be unpleasant to smoke for some. Me particularly, I find the 60-40 PG/VG rate ideal for a nice flavor and a still dense smoke.

Note: The higher the PG rate, the stronger the flavor will be.

3. Too Much Airflow on the Coil Reduces Flavor

One of the biggest enemies of the flavor enthusiasts among the vaping community, is too much airflow passing through the coil. Although ideal to make huge plumes of smoke, it strongly weakens the flavor. To enhance it, you will require a dense and warm environment for vaping plus adjusting the airflow entrance of your e-cigarette. Otherwise you won’t be able to retain the flavor. Additionally, the dimensions of the vapor chamber also affects flavor. To improve flavor, try a narrower airflow.

4. Keep the E-juice in a Cool and Dry Storage

When I first started vaping, I wasn’t aware of how important this was. But I quickly learned, and now I’m here to teach you. Apparently, the storage of the liquid (e-juice) strongly impacts the flavor on the long-run. I first discovered this when a friend of mine offered me a tobacco-flavored e-liquid and told me to always keep it cool and dry. I respected his advice and I didn’t neglect the bottles as I used to. The result? It had a drastic impact on the flavor. A very hot environment will degradate the flavor.

5. Clean the Materials

Another way to improve the vaping experience is to of course keep everything cleaned. Wicks, coils, and tanks. Keep everything clean and fresh and you will notice an improvement in flavor. Of course, you don’t have to clean the materials, but every time you change to a new flavor, or every 2 e-juices (if you always use the same), clean everything. Not only will this increase the lifespan of the materials (constant maintenance), it will also enhance the flavor.

6. Use Quality Materials

Bad quality e-juices and e-cigarettes will of course provide a less pleasing experience, which unavoidably affects the flavor. Therefore, pick only products that ensure high quality, like the folks over at MIQRO vaporizer. If you are not selective with the quality of the essentials, then most likely you will never be able to get the most rewarding experience in vaping.
