7 Steps to Catch Everything and Be Happy

Happiness is defined as the state of being happy, the state of well-being, or the state of intense joy. But more than this, happiness is a journey, both the road to it and the experience if it. Many people see it as a destination and I believe that’s one of the reasons they may never truly reach it.

Anyway, better days will always come, no matter the nature of the problems you may be facing temporarily. But if you’d only knew what it takes to feel happy, you could do it anytime.

Because too many of us are lacking the necessary information and knowledge to be able to reach that state of real happiness, in today’s post, we are presenting the 7 steps to catch everything and be happy.

1. Acknowledge

“I am determined to be cheerful and happy in whatever situation I may find myself. For I have learned that the greater part of our misery or unhappiness is determined not by our circumstance but by our disposition.” Martha Washington

You see, in our journey through life, we may encounter a state of being in which every day is no different from the other, and therefore we are no longer satisfied with our actual life.

If you’re identifying yourself with this state, let me stop you right here, right now. Take a deep breath and stop thinking.

Meditate on what on earth is happening in your life and how you feel about it. In case that you’re feeling confused or don’t really know how you should meditate properly, here is a very good idea.

Acknowledging what is truly going on in your life is the first step towards reaching the genuine feeling of happiness.

2. Understand

“One should strive to understand what underlines sufferings and diseases – and aim for health and well-being while gaining in the path” – Buddha

Perhaps, this is the most important step towards happiness. Without understanding your problems, there’s no way for you to solve them.

Some say that you can ignore it and eventually vanish in time, and it may happen; but when you encounter this problem you didn’t solve, again, you’ll have to go through the same process of suffering again and again until you solve it.

As Alexander Jefferson, the HR manager at Assignment Masters, states, “In order to understand the causes of your unhappiness, you must seek its roots, be true to yourself, and accept all your feelings both good and “bad”. You see, there’s no “bad” feeling. If you feel in a certain way, you can embrace it and change it if you will, or you can simply ignore it. That makes it even more powerful.”

3. Choose

“You can undo a lot of things. If you are not happy, you can become happy. Happiness is a choice. That’s the thing I really feel.” – Jennifer Aniston

You don’t need anybody’s approval to be happy. You’re the one in charge of your life. Therefore, no matter how unfortunate your circumstances in life are, you can always choose to be happy.

What many people don’t understand about happiness is that happiness is a state of mind, and therefore, the genuine feeling of happiness can only come from within ourselves.

Therefore, waiting for something to happen or someone to cross your path to make you happy it’s nothing but a waste of time; and for what? For something that will give you only the illusion of happiness.

4. Implement

“Happiness will never come to those who fail to appreciate what they already have.” – Buddha

Once you have chosen to be happy, the following step is to implement it in your life. The easiest way to do it is by practicing gratitude.

In case you don’t know exactly what gratitude consists in, it’s a specific type of meditation in which you express your appreciation/gratefulness about your life as it is.

To simply put it, gratitude is all about you ceasing to focus on what you don’t have, and beginning to focus on what you do, have while appreciating every bit of it.

Implement the habit of practicing gratitude every day simply by writing down everything you’re grateful for today. Within no time you’ll feel happier and happier.

5. Maintain

“If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present.” – Lao Tzu

Maintaining our happiness can be extremely difficult when we put our focus on things that had happened or will happen. You see, you can only feel happy now, in this very moment of your life.

It may be hard for you to understand, but the truth is that the only time that exists is only NOW. And this is why the practice of mindfulness is helping people defeat depression and anxiety because it’s a type of meditation based on focusing on the present moment.

6. Trigger

This world we live in is bounded by few principles, and one of them is about the fact that you will always have good and bad experiences.

Otherwise, how could you define a good experience if you haven’t experienced a “bad” experience yet?!

Therefore, when you reach a blissful state of mind, you must be aware that it will not last forever. It cannot. But, merrily, you can always go back to it.

Moreover, there are lots of things you can do to trigger happiness. Just try to look just at the bright side of things; even when it doesn’t seem to be one, you’ll find it if you dare to look deep enough.

Other things that might help are: appreciating the simple things, socialize, having a purpose in life, make good doings, and all types of meditation I’ve mentioned above.

7. Manifest

“Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the light of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.” – Buddha

A side effect of the manifestation of genuine happiness is the strong will to share with everybody who crosses your path. And it’s so normal to do so because once you reach this point it means that you’re at peace with your life and you’ll want this for everybody.

Happiness is the actual key to freedom and order in life, so acknowledge, understand, and accept whatever you’re dealing with that it makes you sad, and finally choose to be happy. It’s that simple.
