Xiaomi Mi4i is quite similar to its other Mi devices. Xiaomi has continued to use the flat, rectangular design which looks like a slab. The Mi4i is a good looking device with a nice 5 inch display upfront. Above the display we have an ear piece, a 5 MP camera and a few sensors. Below the display there are three touch capacitive buttons (menu, home, back). The left side of the device is complete empty while the volume rockers and the power button are provided on the right hand side. These buttons give a good tactile feedback when pressed. On the back side of the Mi4i we have a 13 MP primary camera with dual LED (dual tone) flash. At the bottom we have the speaker grille. Overall, the Mi4i feels quite sturdy and premium to hold.

Huawei Honor 4X is bigger than the Mi4i in terms of dimensions and display. It has a large 5.5 inch display which has been fitted in a frame which measures 152.9 x 77.2 x 8.7 mm. The device weighs around 164 grams is heavier than the Mi4i (130 grams). Above the display we have the usual ornaments, an earpiece, a 5 MP camera and a few sensors. Below the display there are three touch capacitive buttons similar to that of the Mi4i but they are arranged in a different order here (back, home, multi tasking). The volume rockers and the power button are placed on the right side of the device. On the back there is a nice looking 13 MP shooter along with a single LED flash. The Honor series branding is place at the center.

Huawei Honor 4X is the bigger one here. It has a bigger 5.5 inch display but it isn’t a Full HD display. It has a resolution of 1080 x 720 pixels and has a pixel density of 267 ppi. For a large display of this size the pixel density is pretty average. The display quality isn’t as sharp as that of the Mi4i.

Power Specs

Xiaomi has used the Snapdragon 615 chipset developed in the Mi4i. It has a Quad-Core Cortex-A53, 1.7 GHz &Quad-Core Cortex-A531.1 GHz processor and Adreno 405 as its GPU. The processor is not the sluggish one but not the fastest as well. Accompanying the quad core processor and the GPU is 2 GB of RAM which allows switching between apps a smooth experience. The internal storage of the Mi4i is at 16 GB and expansion slot is not provided.

In the Huawei Honor 4X we get anOcta-Core 1.2 GHz HiSilicon Kirin 620 processor with Mali 450 employed to take care of the graphics. It also has 2 GB of RAM which helps running the system smoothly. The Honor 4X has only 8 GB of internal storage but there is a micro SD card slot which supports cards up to 32 GB. So, storage wouldn’t be a problem.

Camera

A 13 MP camera is placed at the rear of the Mi4i along with a dual LED (dual tone) flash. It takes some really good pictures. Other features like autofocus, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, panorama, HDR are also available. It is capable to capture videos at 1080p@30fps. On the front of the device we have a 5 MP shooter which is capable enough to provide you with satisfying selfies.

Huawei Honor 4X also has a 13 MP rear facing camera but it has a single LED flash. Features like autofocus, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, panorama, HDR are also available in this device but the pictures taken from the Mi4i are more sharp and clear. The front facing camera on the Honor 4X is also a 5 MP shooter and it wouldn’t disappoint you.

Battery

The Mi4i has a non-user replaceable 3120 mAh battery whereas the Huawei Honor 4X has a 3000 mAh battery. The battery backup of both the devices shouldn’t differ much because the Mi4i has a larger battery but it also has a Full HD display whereas the Honor 4X has a HD display and is behind by only 120mAh.

Connectivity

Both the devices support dual SIM card and has usual connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth (Mi4i has 4.1 whereas Honor 4X has 4.0), FM Radio, GPS. Both of the devices also support LTE connectivity.

Software

Here is a big difference. Xiaomi Mi4i is running on the latest Android Lollipop 5.0.2 and on top of it Xiaomi’s own custom skin MIUI 6.0 gives a completely different user interface. It has a lot of customization options available and is also pretty smooth. It does takes up a lot of RAM but provided that the Mi4i has 2 GB of RAM, it wouldn’t be an issue. The software updates are also available at needed times.

On the other hand the Huawei Honor 4X is running Android 4.4 KitKat which is, maybe, upgradable to Android Lollipop. Like other companies Huawei also has its own custom skin called Emotion 3.0. It also offers a lot customization options but it isn’t the best looking UI out there.

Price

Xiaomi Mi4i provides some better features and therefore has been priced a bit higher at INR 12,999 and is sold via Flipkart. On the contrary, the Huawei Honor 4X is available at INR 10,499 and is also available for sale on Flipkart.
