Installing official Android 5.0 Lollipop on the Moto G (XT1033/XT1032) – Brazilian Retail

Motorola has started rolling out test versions of Android 5.0 Lollipop to Moto G owners who have signed up for the soak test worldwide. However the stable version of Lollipop has been released for Brazilian Moto G users only. Brazilian users will get the update as an OTA package.

If you don’t have a Brazilian Moto G, you might be feeling out of luck for not having a Lollipop update yet. But there’s no need to worry, as forum member DJScope (Igor Rebenko), has made a guide which explains the steps to install the Brazilian Lollipop update on your non-Brazilian (European, North American or Asian) Moto G. The steps involve converting your Moto G to the Brazilian variant by flashing the Brazilian KitKat system image and then installing anĀ OTA update to upgrade it to Lollipop.

This method is pretty safe provided you follow the instructions properly. However, as with flashing any different firmware variant to your phone, you will lose all of your data, so it is advisable to back up all your important data before proceeding.

Feeling impatient and adventurous? Head over to the forum thread to read about it.
