Design and Display
The Samsung Galaxy M10 gets the plastic finish as any other budget smartphone gets. The brand wanted to give its robust device than come with some premium finish- such a solid device. But, if you compare it to the J or On series, M series is quite modern looking. The device is grippy and comfortable to hold with little of premium-ness.
On the right side, there are volume rocker and power buttons which seems very clicky and good. The left side only gets a place for SIM tray. On the bottom, there lies a USB-C port, headphone jack space, and speaker grille. On the top, you only get a microphone.
The rear panel of the phone is decent with dual camera setup and Samsung’s branding. the plastic body makes it feel cheap rather than premium.
Coming to the display, Samsung Galaxy M10 packs a 6.23-inch LCD HD+ display with 720 x 1520 pixels resolution. The display is very vibrant and premium- all thanks to the brand new Infinity-V waterdrop display. The colors are really good and sharp which is the USP of the device honestly. Overall, the design might be cheap looking but when it comes to display, the brand has done great work in it.
Performance
Under the hood, the Galaxy M10 has a 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 7870 processor. The processor is paired with two different RAM and onboard storage variants including 2GB + 16GB and 3GB + 32GB. The internal storage can be further expanded up to 512GB using microSD card.
Overall performance by this device is quite basic- neither is it too grounded nor the phone takes its abilities rich high. The software is well optimized which makes the performance good and decent. Although the device is not too smooth, you might get few lags and stutters. You don’t get along with multitasking but it will satisfy your basic needs.
Coming to the gaming side, the device packs a Mali 830 GPU which is very poor from Galaxy M10. If you are going to play PUBG on it, even on low settings, it will lag and stutter a lot. So, clearly, it is not a gaming device in the budget. Long put short, the device does well in the basic day to day work but can’t handle multitasking and heavy usage. Camera and Battery Life
Coming to the camera, Samsung Galaxy M10 houses a 13MP primary camera and a 5 megapixel ultrawide secondary camera. For clicking selfies, the device offers a 13 megapixel camera with an aperture of F1.9 plus Live Focus. The rear camera clicks decent pictures in outdoors and day lighting situations but when it comes to the low lighting situation, the images lack detailing and sharpness. The wide angle lens come really gives you a nice helping hand though, The front camera too does the same as the rear camera does- decent pics in daylight and lack detailings in low lighting situation.
The Galaxy M10 gets a massive 3,400mAh battery which does a great job which will give you a typical day easily. The phone will drop 5 percent charge easily while you are playing PUBG for half an hour. Enough said the battery life is also another USP of this device.
Other Features
The Samsung Galaxy M10 runs Android 8.1.0 Oreo paired with Samsung Experience 9.5 UI out of the box. The sensors include Face unlock, Proximity sensor and Accelerometer. The device comes in two different color variants: Charcoal Black and Ocean Blue.
Verdict
Many Samsung fans might be happy knowing that Samsung is back with a bang in the mid-range market. But, the neutral fans might be expecting a lot from this device. The device lacks a fingerprint sensor which is the biggest flaw in the device. Though the vibrant display and the high capacity battery life are its USP, still the performance and camera could have been better.
Also, providing Android Oreo in their new device till now is the matter of question for Samsung. The device is very well built, good looking which does the basics right with smooth interface. If that is enough for you, the Samsung Galaxy M10 is a nice option. But, if you are looking for more, then Xiaomi and Realme are the ones you must target.
