0Huawei Honor 7x: A Worthy Successor to Honor 6x
I remember the predecessor of Honor 7x.
The Honor 6x was a fantastic camera phone. Huawei is well-known for their dual camera setup in almost every phone. The 6x was also included a dual rear camera, a 12 MP sensor coupled with a 2 MP sensor. The real-world performance of 6x was great. The camera delivered sharp and natural photos even in low light.
Honor is a sub-brand of Huawei. This Chinese manufacturer is dominating the market with their flagship grade phones like P9, P10, Mate10, Mate10 Pro etc. They also make their own processors. Their phone’s camera is designed by LEICA, the father of optical sensor or monochrome lens. Most people don’t know much about Huawei, so I briefly wrote about them.
Now, let’s talk about the 7x.
The Honor 7x is also a mid-range device just like its predecessor. This phone has 5.9-inch 18:9 aspect ratio bezel-less full HD display which is currently the newest trend for upcoming smartphones. Powered by their own Hisilicon Kirin 659 chipset, an octa-core processor. All cores are based on ARM Cortex A53 architecture. First 4 cores can be clocked up to 1.7 GHz. These are power saving cores. The other 4 cores can be clocked up to 2.3 GHz. These are performance cores. The CPU is made using 14nm FinFet lithography. The Mali-T830 GPU is same dual-core GPU we say on the 6x. It’s good for casual gaming. But anything with higher graphics requirements like Asphalt 8, Modern Combat, etc., then this phone is not the best bet. The 7x is offered in one choice of RAM size, i.e. 4 GB LPDDR3. But, three storage variants are offered: 32 GB,64 GB and 128 GB. All the variants offer MicroSD expansion to 256 GB in a 3-choose-2 SIM tray (hybrid SIM slot). While the primary SIM supports 4 G, the secondary falls back to 3G.
Let’s talk about the camera.
For the rear camera, there is a 16 MP primary sensor and 2 MP phase detection sensor with an LED flash. The front facing camera is 8 MP. The rear camera can record 4K video at 30 FPS. The front camera records up to 1080p.
The phone is backed by a non-removable 3340 mAh battery. The USB port is still a micro USB 2.0.
This phone will go one sale this December before Christmas. It is already listed on Amazon India. It would be priced at ₹12,800 for 32 GB model, ₹16,700 for 64 GB model and ₹19,700 for 128 GB model.
