Top Tips for Choosing Your Next Phone

Buying a new phone is exciting because you have a chance to get a device with new features that your existing phone may not have. Some consumers choose a smartphone because of its many capabilities. Regardless of which brand you prefer, the information below can help you choose the right phone based on your individual needs.

Functionality

When buying a new phone, basic questions often arise, such as what is 5g technology? If you are not technically inclined, you may not know that it’s the fifth generation of wireless technology that exists for cell phones. It uses cell sites that are divided into sectors, which results in faster transmission speed and improved connectivity.

While choosing between Android and iOS devices, you’ll need to decide whether ease of use is more important that hardware features. That’s because iOS is more user-friendly, but Android has slightly more hardware options. If you’re accustomed to using an iOS device, you’ll probably just want to upgrade. If you have always used an Android device, it would be easy to stick with it and upgrade or switch to a user-friendly iOS option.

Cost

Let’s face it, many people make a decision about which phone to choose based on their budget. You can find smartphones from a few hundred dollars to thousand of dollars. There are certain times of the year when devices are less expensive, which is usually when a new model is released.

Screen Size

Just because a phone has a larger screen size doesn’t mean it’s a better phone. You’ll need to make a decision based on your needs. For instance, if you prefer to hold your phone in one hand, a smaller phone is likely a better option than one that’s more than 5.5 inches. If your phone is used extensively for watching movies, reading email messages and playing games, you will probably do better with a larger screen.

Display Quality

The display quality on phones is significant better than in year’s past. This is mainly because of advancements in technology. However, it’s also because of brightness and color quality. While there are screens with high-tech capabilities beyond LCD, such as HDR, a phone that has good color and brightness capabilities will usually suffice. If you’re a techie and resolution matters, you will probably want to choose a 4K screen because they are simply amazing when it comes to clarity. That’s because it has four times as many pixels as the typical phone screen.

Camera Capabilities

Selfies have made the camera capabilities of a phone the most important feature. In fact, many consumers care more about the camera than the phone call quality. If you take a lot of pictures using your phone, focus more on aperture than megapixels. This will be a better indicator of picture quality. Also ask about optical image stabilization and whether or not there are dual lenses.

Battery Quality

One of the most frustrating aspects of smartphone technology for most consumers is the short battery life. While it has improved over the years, there are still some devices that have poor battery quality. It’s best to look for a phone with a battery that lasts for at least 10 hours.

Storage Capacity

Generally, it isn’t a wise decision to choose a phone that has less than 32GB of storage. This is mainly because pictures take up a lot of storage space and anything less than 32GB will likely pose a problem, even if you don’t take a lot of pictures.

The price of some phones is much higher than anyone would have ever imagined paying a few decades ago. However, the capabilities of smartphones have also exceeded all expectations. A phone is a very personal device that most people use daily. As a result, it’s prudent to ensure due diligence to make the right selection.
